A squad of volunteers, led by a professional horticulturalist, regularly gardens in Brunswick Square. They work on the first Saturday of each month, from 10-12 noon, and members come along to as many sessions as they can. The date of the next session is advertised on the railings the week before.
The team’s motto is: Volunteer: It’s good for your health …and the gardens!
The group is given a training talk, before getting down to the work required that month.
Passers-by regularly compliment them on what they’ve achieved and the gardens clearly benefit from their efforts.
A couple of other squares, including Russell Square, are now thinking of doing something similar. If you are interested in volunteering contact: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or just come along to see what’s going on one Saturday soon.
